FN Black Onyx - Chain Broke :(

Post by Mavis on Thu Aug 30, 2012 3:50 pm

My FN black onyx chain just broke Sad one of the links is open. Wouldn't mind but I have only worn twice as haven't told my partner that I bought it yet. Is this common?? Not sure whether to get it swopped or refund?? Has this happened to anyone else? I was trying it on at home long, over head (no clasp) and just fell off. Fortunately I was at home, had no beads on it and it fell on carpet. Worried now if i swop it and it happens again out and on concrete...

Oh no! That's terrible! Luckily it's still quite new and you would definitely get either the refund or exchange.
My two pearl necklaces are still fine after 3 and a half years of quite heavy use, but I don't know whether the quality of the newer chains is different from the older ones.

that is really terrible, I also got the onyx FN, you have to get an exchange from TB, this should not have happened and the chain cannot be really old, it has just been released,
feel sorry for you, the FN is beautiful. Hug

Shocked I don't think exchanging it will be a problem, very sad this has happened to you.

I also think it will be ok for an exchange cause it is not very old. Very Happy
It is better that it happened now cause if it would have been later, maybe it would have been harder to replace it.

TB have a two year guarantee on everyhign except leather. It should be easy to get a replacement. I've never had any problems with my normal FN so hopefully this is just a one off.

Already spoke to the dealer and have returned it to be exchanged. Still worried it may happen again though. Thanks for all your advice x

Perhaps it was just a faulty link. That does happen sadly. Take the time to check the links soldeling in a magnifying glas to make sure and feel safer.

I know this is an older item, but last week the same thing happened to me with my Fairy FN. It is the 60 cm one so a little bit more narrow to put over your head but afther 2 times of wearing I did not expected this. I brought it back to the store and they told me they are going to get it fixed. In the mean time I am waiting Crying or Very sad

My Mum's FN broke and was lost last December the first time she wore it and both the retailer (Steffans) and Trollbeads wouldn't do anything for her. In fact she was told that they don't break Shocked

I got mine from The Secret Garden dealer (online although they do have a shop too) and they were wonderful. Changed immediately. No issue.

it seems that some necklaces have a fault in it. Saracat pity that they did nothing to help your mum because the necklaces are quite expensive.

I have the fairy necklace, pearl and onxy necklace. Had my pearl and fairy five years. My fairy did break but was my fault , as a caught it on my dresser drawer. I contacted my trollbeads dealer to see if it could be repaired and they sent it back to trollbeads to repair and I was willing to pay , as I caught it and there was not charge and has been fine to date.
