Oma's bracelet Empty Oma's bracelet

Post by naranja Sat Nov 24, 2012 3:28 pm

This bracelet is for my oma who died almost two years ago. I wrote a little poem to go with it. It's not very good, but meaningful to me. Love

Oma's bracelet S7304155

Oma
Lieve oma
Met spierwit haar
Vuurvaste handen en twinkeloogjes

Oma
Lieve oma
Schillen kon je
Touwtjespringen nog beter

Oma
Lieve oma
Washandje voor de tranen
En een gebroken hartje in de tuin

Great bracelet Naranja, and your tivoli bead is a perfect match.

And you're absolutely right, the poem isn't good ... it's great!! I can see her before me.... Love

Dear Naranja,

This is a very lovely bracelet and an even lovelier poem!

Omas are the best and I can feel in your poem and your bracelet that yours loved you very much Love

I feel I know your Oma, she seems just like mine, who is dead now nearly thirty years but I still smile back when I remember the smile in her green eyes. That's what poems are all about anyway, our deepest sentiments - it's lovely, just like the combo you made for her! Hug

Beautiful Naranja, your Oma must have been a very special person and she must be so proud of you. I associate the colours you have used with Delft chine (my own mum loooves that stuff) - is there a connection?

Thank you Sil Hug. My oma collected tin decorations such as roses and glass vases with a tin layer, but she wasn't used to buying things as she never had much to spend. I think my grandparents had blue/white tiles in their fire place and kitchen before their house was renovated but I wasn't born then. My mother is crazy about Boerenbont (see: https://www.google.nl/search?q=boerenbont&sugexp=chrome,mod%3D4&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=nl&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=KvixUPPdDsm4hAe_l4GwBA&biw=1920&bih=1099&sei=LPixUNT3IoXW0QXIqoHADQ) and the OOAK I bought in Tivoli reminds me of that pattern.
